COUPLES/MARRIAGE
Your relationship with your loved one is the your most valuable asset. How well and lovingly the two of you get along affects all aspects of your lives. It affects your emotional, social, physical, and financial health. It also significantly impacts the lives of your children, and creates a model for them of what love is supposed to look like and what they should look for in their adult love relationship.
Given its importance, your relationship needs to be in the hands of an expert, someone dedicated to couples counseling who sees a majority of couples in their practice and who has the highest levels of evidence based training in this area.
Jessica specializes in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT), an evidence-based attachment model that has proven to show gains in relationship satisfaction two years after treatment ends (you know, when you’re supposed to think everything is going really well, you feel confident about the future with your loved one, and you know you don’t need therapy any more). This is in sharp contrast to other forms of couples therapy that research repeatedly demonstrates have a decline in relationship success one or two years after the end of couples therapy.
Areas of relationship specialization within couples and individual counseling include:
- Sex Addiction
- Emotional Intimacy
- Connectedness
- Affairs and Infidelity
- Sex Therapy
- Separation and Divorce
- Family Dynamics
- Grief and Mourning

Discernment Counseling
Are you and your spouse on the brink of separation or divorce? There is a new model of short-term therapy (6 sessions or less) designed for you called discernment counseling.
Discernment counseling is for couples who aren’t sure if they want to try couples counseling or if they are ready to just end the relationship. Sometimes these couples have tried couples counseling in the past and found it ineffective, or they think counseling won’t help, but they are not certain enough to end the relationship that has such high stakes. At the end of discernment counseling you will have greater clarity about if you want to fully commit to the process of couples counseling or if you want to continue toward separation and divorce.
A huge benefit of discernment counseling is that if you decide to head down the path of separation that this is often a more cooperative process after discernment counseling that lends itself toward the more family and financially friendly divorce process called Collaborative Divorce Law. Discernment Session: $300 (75-90 min session) for no more than 6 sessions.
